We are excited to announce our first community dinner and hope you will join us for a night celebrating our local food community.
Date- Thursday, May 29
Time- 6:00 pm- hors d’oeuvres and music
6:45- dinner is served
Where- Weaverville Community Center
Why- Profits this year will go to the Community Center renovations. The market is hoping to raise enough for a major appliance for the remodeled kitchen.
Cost- $30 per person
Payment- Please email me me at email@example.com if you would like to attend. You will be sent payment options. In order to help with our planning, please let us know as soon as possible if you would like a ticket(s). We will confirm receipt of your request within 48 hours. You can also check in person at the market at Fork Mountain Farm (next to the baker).
You will have a choice of entree- pork, chicken, or vegetarian. The meat entrees will be gluten free. We will ask for your entree choice when you buy your ticket.
Other than that, the menu will be up in the air until the last minute when we know what is fresh and wonderful from our vendors. Dishes will be chosen based on what is available and as much as possible will be sourced from the market. (One hint- we are hoping to have strawberries by then.)
We are still working on drink details and hope to have wine and beer available.
Market vendors will be your chefs, waiters, and bus boys/girls.
Raffle- we will be selling raffle tickets, the prize being market bucks good at any of the tailgate vendors.
As this is our first year, we will not be able to accommodate any special food requests.
We would like to thanks our sponsors, the Weaverville Business Association and Mangum Pottery. Their help and support have made this dinner possible.
The market does a paragraph or two in the newsletter that goes out in Weaverville. I will post it here monthly for non-Weaverville residence to read.
Greetings from the Weaverville Tailgate Market Vendors!
We look forward to seeing more of you this month at the market every Wednesday, 2:30-6:30pm at the Community Center parking lot on the hill above Lake Louise and Park. We will celebrate this month by bringing you more variety of vegetables, herbs, and fruits as they have more favorable weather to mature and ripen in; as well as, all the other fantastic products and crafts that you can count on each week. Also, we have a Special Event planned for the end of the month(details below).
The weather is such a complicated factor into what the produce farmers can have ready and available to bring to market but rest assured they work very hard to bring you all that they can. The produce that should be available for your menu planning this month are: lettuces, lettuce mixes, arugala, greens, spinach, kale, swiss chard, collards, escarole, watercress, ramps, peas, pea shoots, radishes, beets, turnips, carrots, mushrooms, green onions, and strawberries! Most of these are grown using organic or natural methods in order to keep food safe and fresh.
Using many of those same methods, other producers bring eggs, chicken, lamb, pork, beef, and seafood to compliment your plate of freshly grown local food. This market also carries a large variety of value added products from vendors that include homemade/home crafted products such as: breads, cookies, pies, desserts, fudge and candies, jams and jellies, sauces and pickles, coffee and tea, ice cream, goat, cow, and sheep cheeses, goat milk for pet food, and other prepared foods -Mexican.
To complete this unique “One Stop Shopping” opportunity, we have a wide assortment of hand crafted items for your family or for gift giving: cut flowers, pet treats and goodies, hand sewn items, jewelry, herbal products, and soap/skin care products.
For your added convenience, you can swipe your credit card and get “Market Bucks” to use instead of cash. We look forward to seeing you at the Market!
