The market does a paragraph or two in the newsletter that goes out in Weaverville. I will post it here monthly for non-weaverville residence to read.
Greetings from your local farmers, producers, and vendors at the Weaverville Tailgate Market!
Wednesday, April 9th is our first day of the year to bring you the freshest and healthiest grown and produced food choices that you can find locally. We are located in the midst of town at the Weaverville Community Center overlooking beautiful Lake Louise every Wednesday 2:30-6:30pm April 9th – Oct. 29th.
Our Market is made up of over 20 farmers and vendors from the area that are looking forward to bringing you an amazing variety of safely produced fresh food including vegetables, fruits, eggs, surf and turf meats, baked goodies and breads, jams, jellies, pickles, desserts, pies, candy, coffee, cheeses, ice cream, and prepared foods/food meals to go. We also offer a variety of other hand prepared or crafted items such as natural cleaning supplies, soaps and bath products, cut flowers, herbal products, crafts and gift items, pet milk, pet treats and goodies.
During the month of April, the choices and amounts of vegetables may be limited due to the crazy winter weather we have had this year but there will be much more produce variety to come and of course lots of other products to shop for as well. However, the vegetables most likely to be there are: lettuces, greens, radishes, spinach, watercress, pac choi and pea sprouts. A bit later in the month: asparagus, ramps, onions, carrots, turnips, beets, swiss chard, more lettuce varieties, peas and Jerusalem artichokes will be available to complete your menu planning. The products less weather dependant listed above will be available and you will have a great opportunity to meet and get to know the other producers (familiar and new), shop talk about gardening, find out about CSA boxes, pre ordering products, meal planning with new recipes, product selections and learning about exciting new vegetable exchanges and substitutes or just putting a face with the person you trust to feed your family.
For your added convenience to this one stop shopping experience, we can swipe your credit card for the amount of “market bucks” you need to shop with if you are short on cash. Many of the vendors also accept checks and some can even take credit cards with an app feature on their phones!
“Kids Day” with Scribbles the Clown is the first Wednesday of each month. Musicians, chair massage, and other informational/community service groups are scheduled throughout each month for your enjoyment as well.
When you shop at the Weaverville Tailgate Market, you are: supporting the local economy, getting the safest, freshest, best product possible, getting the best value for your money with one stop shopping, getting to put a face with where your food or product comes from, getting to be in a relaxing beautiful environment after work, getting to hang out with friends and enjoy the afternoon at the park. So, what is stopping you? Come out, visit and shop with us every Wednesday starting April 9th 2:30-6:30pm.
